The Bone Shakers
The Bone Shakers are led by Randy Jacobs, who serves as the central figure in the project and has kept the group active since 1995. The act has a blues-based, eclectic style shaped by Jacobs’s broad musical background.
Randy Jacobs
Jacobs begins his musical life in Detroit at the age of 13. His first professional work is with Motown artists including Sylvia Moy, Barrett Strong and Don Davis. He also works with former Miles Davis bassist Michael Henderson, and co-writes the Top Five R&B hit “Wide Receiver,” which establishes him as a songwriter as well as a performer.
Style and background
The Bone Shakers reflect Jacobs’s wide-ranging experience and his ability to assemble a strong backing group of singers and musicians. The project’s sound is rooted in blues, with influences drawn from Jacobs’s earlier work in soul and R&B contexts.
