The Bombay Royale

The Bombay Royale is an Australian group formed in Melbourne in 2010. It is an 11-piece band built around original songs that combine funk and filmi with disco, pop, and Indian classical and folk music, drawing on the sound of 1960s and 1970s Bollywood film soundtracks.

The group is fronted by Parvyn Kaur Singh, known as The Lady, and Shourov Bhattacharya, known as The Tiger. It sings in Hindi, Bengali and other languages. Musical director Andy Williamson, known as The Skipper, conceives the band and plays saxophone and flute.

The Bombay Royale releases three albums during its active years: You Me Bullets Love, The Island of Doctor Electrico and Run Kitty Run. It tours beyond Australia and performs in Europe, the UK and the USA, where it receives critical attention.
