The Bollock Brothers
The Bollock Brothers are a British punk and new wave group from the United Kingdom, formed in 1979 by London promoter, DJ and manager Jock McDonald. The line-up includes Klaus Fiehe, Jock McDonald and Martyn Young.
Style and releases
The group is best known for English-language cover versions, including Serge Gainsbourg’s “Harley David (Son of a Bitch)” and Alex Harvey’s “Faith Healer”. Its repertoire also includes versions of songs associated with Led Zeppelin, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Steppenwolf, David Bowie and Vangelis.
The band also records original material, including “Horror Movies”, “The Bunker”, “The Legend Of The Snake” and “The Slow Removal of The Left Ear of Vincent Van Gogh”, the last of which features Martin Glover of Killing Joke.
Notable projects and activity
In 1983, the group releases an electro version of the Sex Pistols album Never Mind The Bollocks, which receives critical acclaim and includes Michael Fagan, the man who entered the Queen’s bedchamber at Buckingham Palace. In 1994, Croydon DJ Andy Hubbard, also known as Alby, remixes “Faith Healer” at Alaska Studios in Waterloo, London; the track is praised on the club scene but remains unreleased, and Hubbard also stands in for the original keyboard player at a later gig in Wuppertal, Germany.
Recorded output
The Bollock Brothers have nine studio albums, along with EPs, singles, live releases and compilations. The band remains active and continues to perform live across Europe, especially in Belgium, Germany and France.
