The Bleeding Obvious is a Wakefield-based group active since 2015. It is the musical project of Jessica Rowbottom, who works from a broad set of ideas and turns them into studio recordings with a clear, focused shape.
Studio approach and instrumentation
Rowbottom plays most of the instruments on recording. The project’s sound draws on a wide range of tools and timbres, including descant recorder, bass, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, ukulele, keyboards, organs, and modified children’s toys such as a Speak & Spell.
Style and scope
The project sits across ambient, dance, disco, electronica and downbeat. Its name and setup suggest a personal studio-led approach rather than a conventional fixed-band format, with Rowbottom handling a substantial share of the musical work herself.
