The Black Rats
The Black Rats are an Atlanta-based group active from 1989 to the present. They are associated with blues rock, hard rock, jam band, rock, roots rock and southern rock.
The name is also used for a line-up that includes Jeff Cease, Johnny Colt, Steve Gorman, Chris Robinson, Rich Robinson, Marc Ford, Eddie Harsch, Sven Pipien, Audley Freed, Greg Rzab, Andy Hess, Bill Dobrow, Luther Dickinson and Adam MacDougall.
Style and identity
Their music is described in broad terms as rock with elements of indie, alternative, blues, funk and danceable rhythms.
