The Beths

The Beths are an indie rock and indie pop band from Auckland, New Zealand. They form in 2015 and are made up of Elizabeth Stokes, Jonathan Pearce, Benjamin Sinclair and Tristan Deck.

Stokes sings lead and plays guitar. She meets Pearce, who also plays guitar, and bassist Benjamin Sinclair while they are all in bands at high school. The three begin playing underground gigs around Auckland and later become friends with drummer Tristan Deck, who joins in 2019.

The group’s sound combines guitar riffs, melodic hooks, harmonised backing vocals and sing-along choruses. Their songs also use four-part vocal arrangements and wry, introspective lyrics. Their style sits across indie pop, indie rock, pop punk and power pop.

The Beths open for acts including The Breeders, Pixies, Weezer and Death Cab for Cutie.
