The Barbarettes
The Barbarettes are a Korean doo-wop female group formed in 2012. They are a three-member harmony group made up of Shin-ae An, Eun-hye Kim and So-hee Park, and they describe their music as drawing on styles from before the 1960s, with The Andrews Sisters and Korea’s Kim Sisters as key touchstones. Their material combines close vocal harmonies with self-written songs.
The group presents itself as a rare Korean “indie girl group” and performs for a wide range of audiences, from the Hongdae indie scene to local community celebrations. The main lineup includes Shin-ae An on vocal, guitar and production, Eun-hye Kim on vocal, and So-hee Park on vocal. The Barberettes Band is also listed with Sae Ha Lee on piano, Hyun Park on bass and G Young Kim on drums.
