The Autonomads
The Autonomads are a punk group from Manchester, England, formed in 2007. They are a five-piece band with a political focus, and their songs and live activity often reflect anarchism, animal rights, veganism, human rights, anti-war, anti-racism, anti-fascism and environmental causes. The band also plays benefit gigs in support of those issues.
Style and activity
The Autonomads describe themselves as a DIY dub punk band, and they are associated with punk, dub, ska and reggae. Their sound is compared with acts such as aos3, P.A.I.N, Inner Terrestrials, Headjam, King Tubby and Zounds.
Releases
In 2009, the band releases its debut album, No Man's Land, a nine-track record issued in the UK on Pumpkin Records and in Germany on Antikörper-Export. The physical release uses a hand-stitched fabric cover and a single double-sided paper sleeve around the CD, reflecting the band’s aim not to add to plastic waste.
Other details
The Autonomads maintain a DIY approach and operate as a UK punk band based in Manchester.
