The Atlantics
The Atlantics are an Australian surf rock group from Sydney, active since 1961. They are associated with surf, surf rock, garage rock and instrumental rock, and are recognised as one of the best-known Australian bands in the surf rock style.
Early 1960s surf rock
In the early 1960s, The Atlantics become known for “Bombora”, their best-known hit. They are described as the first Australian rock band to write their own hits, and their later recordings, including “Come On”, move into 1960s garage rock.
Later activity
The group reforms in 2000 with three original members and continues to perform and issue new material. The lineup includes Peter A. Hood and Jim Skiathitis.
