The Aim

The Aim is a band formed in Copenhagen in 2004 by four young musicians: Veronica D’Souza on lead vocals, Adam Olsson on lead guitar, Greg Boye on bass guitar and R.R. Riise on drums. The group builds its sound around a standard rock line-up, with influences from 1960s beat music, female vocals and sharp guitar riffs. Its style also draws comparisons with the early Who and the Mod movement, while combining older and newer rock elements.

Career

The band begins performing live soon after its formation and plays numerous concerts across Denmark, attracting attention from audiences and critics. It also appears in Bilbao and at the German POPKOMM festival. Following growing interest from abroad, the group moves to Berlin in late 2006.

Recordings

The Aim releases an EP titled AIMology in 2005. It is then working on its debut album.

Reception

Reports on the band’s live shows describe power, distortion and movement, and note the contrast between 1960s innocence and 1970s edge in its sound. The group also receives positive reactions from the German, English and Canadian music industries after its POPKOMM appearance.
