The Acronyms are a hyper-oldies band from Springfield, Missouri. They form in January 1997 from the remains of Piezo Transducer and Jake’s Radio, and continue together for about five years, playing shows irregularly.

The group’s first performance takes place on 1 November 1997 at a Halloween party. A cassette of that show is issued soon afterwards on Wee Rock Records.

The Acronyms’ setlists mainly consist of oldies covers performed at a much faster tempo than the original recordings. They also write a small number of their own songs.
