Thank You Scientist

Thank You Scientist is a progressive rock group from Montclair, New Jersey, active since 2009. Led by guitarist and band founder Tom Monda, the seven-piece develops a style that combines progressive rock with jazz fusion, jazz, progressive metal, crossover prog, experimental, funk, rock and swancore elements.

History and recordings

The band self-releases the EP The Perils of Time Travel in 2011 before signing to Evil Ink Records, the label founded by Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez. Its first full-length album, Maps of Non-Existent Places, appears in 2012 and is re-released in 2014. The record gains critical attention, reaches the Billboard Hard Rock and Heatseekers charts, and is named Album of the Week by Revolver in 2014.

In 2016, the band releases Stranger Heads Prevail, which enters the Billboard Top 200. The group also spends several years touring internationally, both as headliners and in support of acts including Coheed and Cambria, Periphery, Haken, Protest the Hero, Devin Townsend, Yes and The Aristocrats.

The line-up includes Salvatore Marrano on vocals, Tom Monda on electric guitar, fretless guitar, shamisen, sitar, vocals, synth and production, Ben Karas on electric violin, Cody McCorry on bass, theremin and saw, Faye Fadem on drums, Joe Gullace on trumpet, and Kevin Grossman.
