Tetrameth
Tetrameth is the recording name of Peter Hayes, a musician and producer based in Melbourne, Australia. He works in psytrance and progressive trance, and describes his style as “Technical Progressive”. His music is a blend of morning and progressive trance with an emphasis on technical, carefully constructed arrangements and an organic undertone.
Background
Hayes grows up learning several instruments and later studies contemporary jazz at the Conservatorium of Music on the North Coast of New South Wales, where he earns a diploma. He plays in bands for several years before moving into studio-based writing and production, a transition that follows naturally from his earlier musical training and performance experience. He begins producing his own psytrance around August 2003.
Releases
Tetrameth’s releases include The Quickening, which appears on the Intelligent Manipulation compilation on Zenon Records, and Escape Sequence, a collaboration with Shadow Fx, also known as James Hayes, Peter Hayes’s brother. That track appears on Contact Lens, a compilation on Cosmic Conspiracy Records. He also releases his debut album, Psycological Pyrotechnics, on Zenon Records.
Style and performance
His output is associated with psychedelic trance and progressive trance, with a sound that combines melodic sunrise-oriented elements and a technical edge. He is also described as a performer who takes his music beyond conventional genre boundaries.
