Tenor Fly is a Brixton-born British MC and vocalist associated with jungle and drum and bass, as well as ragga and reggae. Born in 1967 and active until his death in 2016, he first develops his reputation through sound system culture and dancehall.

Career

Tenor Fly starts DJing on Sir Coxsone Sound alongside Daddy Fathead General Dan Bikey, and tours across England seven days a week. Through this work he builds a strong standing in dancehall, with Sir Coxsone described as one of the major sounds in England at the time.

Recording

His first record is “Ruff Neck Fashion”, issued on the B-side of a Flourgon record. The track reaches No. 1 in the reggae charts and becomes a popular dancehall tune across the country. This release establishes him as a name in the UK reggae and ragga scene.
