Tenishia

Tenishia is a Maltese electronic dance act made up of Joven Grech and Cyprian Cassar. The pair begin working together in 2004 after meeting in a small bar and discovering shared musical interests. They build their own studio and start producing music as a duo, with Grech already having experience as a DJ and Cassar bringing a classical background that includes piano and other instruments. Their work sits within trance, vocal trance, melodic trance and progressive trance.

Early recognition

The duo quickly gains attention in Malta’s club scene and wins the Best New Comer Award for 2005, eight months after their debut there. Their bootleg version of Floyd's Girl becomes one of Malta’s most requested tracks. In 2005 they perform publicly for the first time, and their live show becomes heavily booked for the rest of the year, making it one of Malta’s most booked live acts that year. They also appear at events in Malta and Gozo, including MTV and Sunset Sundays, and attract coverage through television, radio, the internet, magazines and newspapers.

Releases and collaborations

Tenishia first draw notice from Voodoo Vinyl Records in Holland, which leads to remixes for foreign artists. They are later signed by J Joy to his Real Muzik label, and he becomes their official producer. In collaboration with J Joy, they produce Rush for Jan Johnston in their Malta studio. The track receives international radio play and is also featured at the Tiesto.com event in December 2005. This opens further collaborations with vocalists including Marcella Woods and Kirsty Hawkshaw.

Support and catalogue

The duo receives support from artists including Mike, Push, Solar Stone, Deep Blue Recordings, Emjay of Perfecto Records, Johan Gielen and Matt Darey. Their listed output includes Five, Bleeding Heart with Ivan of Winter Moods, Across The Border, World's On Fire, Upload, Trigger, On Fire with Nadine, Comino, Enter My World, Fallin and Comes The Light. Their remixes and bootlegs include Blow It Up by Devils Cartel, Who Da Phunk by Matt Duffer Brown, Electronic Theory by Junior B, Sirround and Melchior, and the Rush remix. They also record Outsiders with Kirsty Hawkshaw.
