Temnein

Temnein is a French melodic death metal and progressive metal group from Grand Est, active since 2009. The band draws on melodic death metal, with progressive metal at its core, and is associated with the broader metal, death metal and progressive death metal scenes.

Albums

Temnein releases its first two albums, 404 B.C. in 2014 on Mighty Music and White Stained Inferno in 2017 on Massacre Records. Both records receive strong coverage in the international metal press.

Its third album, Tales: Of Humanity and Greed, is self-released and distributed digitally worldwide through Blood Blast, a service linked to Nuclear Blast and Believe Music. This release is produced by El Mobo, who has worked with Loudblast, ETHS and The Great Old Ones, and its visual design is created by Vincent Fouquet, whose credits include Meshuggah and Kataklysm.

Style and lyrical themes

Tales: Of Humanity and Greed uses a collection of tales, myths and legends as its lyrical framework, including Asian tales, Inuit stories and pop-culture references such as Doctor Who and The Legend of Zelda. These stories are tied together by themes of repeating human mistakes and greed across time. Musically, the band keeps its melodic death metal foundation while using shorter songs than on earlier releases and adding doom/death, post-metal and progressive elements for a more atmospheric sound.

Live activity

Temnein tours in Europe, the UK, Russia and Japan. It appears in support of acts including At the Gates, Beyond Creation, Mors Principium Est, Hate, The Crown, Svart Crown, Nordjevel, Shade Empire and Bleeding Gods. The band also plays European festivals such as Durbuy Rock Fest, HRH Fest and Aalborg Rock&Metal Fest.
