TeKniKaL

TeKniKaL, also known as Teknikal, is a rapper from Toronto, Canada. Born on 8 October 1989, he begins writing and recording his own music while in ninth grade and starts rapping at the age of 13. He develops an early interest in music from the age of four, listening to his father’s and uncle’s old tapes, especially 1980s and 1990s rock, before later becoming interested in hip-hop.

He begins taking his music more seriously in March 2006. After meeting fellow rapper MC Mint Condition, he travels to Chicago to record his debut mixtape, The Franchize, with him. The mixtape brings him wider attention and helps establish his name as an emcee.

TeKniKaL later appears on a number of unsigned hip-hop mixtapes, including DJ Green Lantern’s MySpace Invasion Vol. 2. He also works on several projects, including three EPs titled The Chronicles of Authenticity and a mixtape called Diamond in the Dirt.
