Tekla

Tekla is the stage name of Pernilla Sternäng, a Swedish singer from Helsingborg, Sweden, born in 1969. She works in pop and alternative music and is associated with female-fronted vocal performance.

Albums and recordings

In the 1990s, she releases four albums, two in Swedish and two in English. These are Oranga Blad (also given as Orange leaves, 1992), Tekla (1994), Cactuses (1996) and Somebody Else (1998). The albums are issued on the Swedish label MNW.

Her fourth album is also released in 1999 on Nettwerk, a label based in Vancouver, Canada.

Live work and later career

Tekla tours with Sarah McLachlan on the 1999 Lilith Fair tour as one of the Village Stage artists. She leaves the music industry in the early 2000s. Later information about her is limited, though she is reported to live in Stockholm.

Name note

Another singer-songwriter has also used the name Tekla for releases and live performances, but Tekla herself is the Swedish artist from Helsingborg.
