Teho

Teho is an electronic music producer from Montpellier, France. He is identified as Theo Vicente and works mainly in house, techno, electronic and downtempo-influenced styles, with a sound centred on melodic techno and elements of electronica.

Background and early development

Born in 1990 in the Montpellier area, Teho begins playing bass guitar at 11 and tries to learn songs he likes. He discovers electronic music at 15, then starts producing after seeing Daft Punk perform two years later. He also takes inspiration from the musical world around the Montpellier club Bar Live After, alongside artists such as James Holden and Stephan Bodzin.

Early releases and live work

In 2010, he signs his first EPs, one of which includes a remix by Traumer. That same year he plays his first shows in Montpellier and Paris in live set format. During one of those performances he meets NTO, who later contributes to his creative process by making him a remix. In 2012, he performs abroad for the first time at the Module club in Tokyo, then plays in Germany, Belgium and England.

Record labels and label work

After several label releases, he reaches a key point in 2014 with two EPs on Stephan Bodzin’s Herzblut Recordings. In 2016 he launches his own label, Labo T, which he describes as a space for experimenting with different styles and aspects of his music. In 2017 he continues to release material through other labels, with an EP on Traum Schallplatten and a single on Agoria’s Sapiens.

Albums, performances and wider recognition

Also in 2017, Teho appears on Cercle for the first time with a live set streamed from Colorado Provençal in Rustrel, France. He plays major festivals including I Love Techno Europe in 2018 and Panoramas Festival in 2019. His first album, Polytone, is released on Labo T, with remixes by Joris Delacroix, Joachim Pastor and Ron Flatter. In 2021 he appears again on Cercle, this time with a filmed short-format performance at Glacier 3000 in Switzerland, and the video gains wide attention in international media including the Times, BBC, CBS News and France TV.

Recent work

In 2022, he releases his second studio album, Infinity, which receives press coverage and support from DJs including Ben Böhmer, Benny Benassi and Tiësto. He has accumulated several million plays across his tracks and continues to perform internationally with a style that combines dreamy and melancholic textures with energetic rhythmic drive.
