Teenagersintokyo

Teenagersintokyo is a group with roots in Sydney and later a London base, working in dark pop, electronic and rock. The line-up consists of Samantha Lim on vocals, Sophie McGinn on guitar, Miska Mandic on keyboard, Linda Marigliano on bass and Rudy Udovich on drums.

The band forms in Sydney, Australia. Its early recorded output includes a self-titled debut EP, which appears in November 2006. Its later releases include the album Sacrifice, which appears on Back Yard in April 2010.

Teenagersintokyo performs alongside a number of other acts including !!!, Cansei de Ser Sexy, The Slits, Midnight Juggernauts and Gossip. The band also works with producer David Kosten on recording sessions in the Welsh mountains, while based in London. A double A-side single, Isabella / Long Walk Home, appears on limited-edition 7-inch vinyl and as a digital download.

The group’s music is described through references to post-punk and new wave influences, with Isabella drawing on artists such as Siouxsie and the Banshees and X-Ray Spex, and Long Walk Home presenting a more restrained, synth-led side of the band. The group enters hiatus in 2011.
