Technotronic

Technotronic is a Belgian electronic music project from Aalst, active from 1988 to 2000. It is a studio-based house act associated with electronic, euro house, eurodance, hip house, house and new beat, and is known as a Belgian 1990s electronic music project.

Formation and key figures

The project is formed by Jo Bogaert, who also uses the name Thomas De Quincey. The act also involves Reggie, Patrick de Meyer, Felly, Melissa Beckford, Eric Martin and Ya Kid K, alongside Bogaert.

Breakthrough and recordings

Technotronic produces the hit single Pump Up The Jam, which is originally intended as an instrumental. Ya Kid K, born Manuela Kamosi in Zaire, provides vocals on that track and on several other Technotronic recordings.

Visual presentation

The act’s image is built around Zairian-born fashion model Felly, who appears on album and single artwork and in the music video as the apparent singer.
