Taymir

Taymir is a Dutch indie pop and indie rock band that forms around songs rooted in 1960s beat and pop traditions. The group starts in 2013, when Quinten Meiresonne and Bas Prins move on from their earlier project, The Consolers, and begin working under a new name with drummer Harrie Roelse and guitarist Mikkie B Wessels.

Background

Before Taymir, Meiresonne and Prins write and perform 1960s-style pop songs as The Consolers. That earlier group becomes a successful local act, plays many live shows and attracts an international record deal offer, but the project ends because they want to make new music rather than remain tied to a retro format.

Style

Taymir’s music is described as authentic pop with a 1960s beat influence, combined with the energy associated with Arctic Monkeys and the edge of The Strokes. The band’s sound is also described as no-nonsense indie pop, shaped by the experience of The Consolers and the input of Roelse and Wessels.
