Tantrums

Tantrums is a hardcore group from Milwaukee. The name has also been used by other acts, including a Birmingham, UK band of four boys and one girl who focus on guitar pedals and unusual time signatures, and a Melbourne duo made up of Jade McInally and Sarah Phelan.

The Birmingham group releases its first EP, Champloo, on Bigger Than Barry Records in 2010. The Melbourne Tantrums build a sound they describe as “midi-evil disco”, using melancholy melodies, drum machine rhythms and atmospheric layers. That project features McInally on vocals, guitar and keys, and Phelan on guitar, keys, production and programming.

The Melbourne act is influenced by Joy Division and PiL, and its music is also compared with Telepathe and The Virgin Suicides soundtrack. It has recorded material and is associated with Exo Records.
