Tanner

Tanner is a post-hardcore band from San Diego, United States. It forms after Ryan Foxe leaves Fishwife, with remaining members Gar Wood, Chris Prescott and Matt Ohlin continuing together under the new name. The group is active from 1993 to 1997 and is associated with the San Diego punk, punk rock, hardcore and indie scenes.

The band releases a handful of singles and two albums: Ill-Gotten Gains in 1995 and (Germo) Phobic in 1997. Its sound is described as driving, explosive and tightly performed, drawing on the fast and intense style of early- to mid-1990s Southern California post-hardcore. Tanner’s material is often discussed alongside other San Diego acts from the period, including the album Yank Crime as a reference point for the scene.

Gar Wood is also known for Hot Snakes, while Chris Prescott plays in Hemlock, No Knife and Pinback. The band’s line-up includes Chris Prescott and Gar Wood.
