Talibam!

Talibam! is an experimental jazz group from the United States associated with free jazz, jazzcore, jazz and noise rock. The group centres on Kevin Shea, who plays drums and has also been active in Storm & Stress, Coptic Light and People, and Matt Mottel, who plays synthesiser. Ed Bear is also a member of the group.

Formation and early releases

The group first appears as a New York duo made up of Shea and Mottel. After a series of limited CD-R releases, they issue their first CD studio album, Ordination of the Globetrotting Conscripts, on Azul Discografica. Their recordings from this period bring in a number of New York improvisers, including Peter Evans on trumpet, Cooper-Moore on piano, Michael Evans on drums and Jeremy Wilms on guitar.

Style

Talibam!'s music combines jazz with noise in a playful, abrasive approach that fits within experimental and free improvisation traditions.
