Talanas
Talanas is a London progressive metal group. The band forms as a four-piece and includes former members of Interlock, who are associated with Anticulture Records. It emerges from the British progressive metal scene and works across progressive death metal, progressive metal, death metal and extreme progressive metal.
Early release and style
The group releases a debut EP, Reason & Abstract, in August 2010. After that release, Talanas works in the studio on its first full-length album, The Waspkeeper. The band’s music combines extreme metal intensity with atmospheric soundscapes, drawing on darker strands of 1980s and 1990s mainstream music while keeping a direct, accessible approach within a prog-based metal style.
Live activity and distribution
Talanas has already played live dates before planning a fuller run of performances, including a booking on the main stage of Fusion at the Elgiva Theatre. Its CD is distributed across three continents, indicating reach beyond the local London scene.
Reception and release plans
The band attracts attention from metal and progressive-rock press, with praise describing its sound in terms of force, fascination and heaviness. The Waspkeeper is set for release through Eulogy Media, a label also associated with Dām, For The Blind and Beth Ryan.
