TAKEOVER
TAKEOVER is a metal band from Spokane, Washington, active from 2004 and associated with hardcore and metalcore. The group forms in early winter 2004 with George Silva on guitar, melodic vocals and backing screams, Scotty Martin on bass guitar, Greg Daily on vocals, BJ Sampson on guitar, and Seth Folgelman on drums. Silva has previously played in Five Foot Thick, Martin in Bled By Design, IDK and The Endustry, Daily in Ambeo, and Sampson in Ties That Bind, Neither Be Affraid, Endswell and Suffice.
The lineup changes several times over the years. Drummers include Silas McQuain, who records The Brutality Process, Scott “Muppet” Walker, Justin Solinas, Danny Passara and Ryan Folden. Bass players include Kris Demers and Pat Stookey. After BJ Sampson leaves, Matt Roberts joins on guitar and remains in the band until the end, recording The Brutality Process and taking part in the band’s extensive touring. By the end, Greg Daily and George Silva are the only original members still in the group.
Sound and live performances
TAKEOVER’s music combines old-school metal influence with elements drawn from contemporary metal and hardcore. The band describes its sound through fast guitars, harsh vocals, sung melodies, breakdowns and heavy percussion. It also develops a reputation for energetic shows and intense crowd response, with performances likened to a full-contact sport.

The band issues a self-titled EP and The Brutality Process. Over a two-year period, the self-titled EP sells more than 1,000 copies, while The Brutality Process sells almost 500 copies between its release in April 2007 and the group’s split in late July 2007.
