TAEMIN

Taemin is the stage name of Lee Tae-min (이태민), a South Korean singer and actor born in 1993 in Seoul, South Korea. He is associated with K-pop and J-pop, and is signed to SM Entertainment and Big Planet Made. He is a member of SHINee, Younique Unit and SuperM.

Career with SHINee and other group projects

Taemin is discovered at the 2005 S.M. Open Weekend Audition Casting and is later chosen in 2008 as a member of SHINee, a five-member boy group. SHINee debuts on SBS’s Inkigayo on 25 May 2008. In addition to SHINee, he performs with the dance-focused group S.M. The Performance and later joins the SM super-group SuperM. He is also listed as part of Younique Unit, a six-member dance team formed with Eunhyuk, Henry, Hyoyeon, Kai and Luhan for the Veloster theme song “Maxstep”, a collaboration between SM Entertainment and Hyundai.

Solo work

Taemin releases his first original soundtrack contribution, “너란 말야 (U)”, for the drama To The Beautiful You in 2012. He appears as a featured artist on Henry’s solo song “Trap” in 2013. His official solo debut follows in 2014 with the title song “괴도 (Danger)” and the mini album ACE. He later releases his first full-length solo album Press It in 2016.

Japanese releases and later albums

His Japanese solo debut comes with the EP Sayonara Hitori / Solitary Goodbye in 2016. In 2017 he releases his second studio album, MOVE - The 2nd Album, which includes the single “Move”. His third overall and first Japanese studio album, Taemin, appears in 2018, followed by the Korean EP WANT - The 2nd Mini Album in 2019. He also releases the Japanese mini album FAMOUS in 2019.

SuperM and recent solo releases

Taemin debuts in SuperM in October 2019 with the group’s first mini album SuperM - The 1st Mini Album. He then releases Never Gonna Dance Again : Act 1 - The 3rd Album and Never Gonna Dance Again : Act 2 - The 3rd Album in 2020, followed by ADVICE - The 3rd Mini Album in 2021. After military service, he releases Guilty - The 4th Mini Album in 2023.
