Sweet Jesus
Sweet Jesus is a British indie band active from 1991 to 1994. The group is made up of Ben Bentley and Roy Priest.
Shoegaze and indie rock
The name is associated with a shoegaze act influenced by the later period of My Bloody Valentine, but with a stronger pop element of its own. This version of the band releases a 45 and three EPs in the early 1990s, and its work is described as accomplished and well received by listeners who found it, even though it remains largely overlooked.
Recordings
The releases linked with the band include Honey Loving Honey on Rough Trade Singles Club, Albino Ballerina on Chapter 22, Phonefreak Honey on Rough Trade, and Real Babe on Rough Trade.
Other use of the name
Another band also uses the name Sweet Jesus: a hardcore group from Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
