Sutekh

Sutekh is the recording name of Seth Joshua Horvitz, an American electronic and dance producer from Los Angeles, born in 1973. He has released music since 1997 and is associated with minimal techno, IDM, glitch, minimal house and experimental electronica.

Music and releases

Horvitz releases on a range of labels including Force Inc./Mille Plateaux, Source, Background, Plug Research, Cytrax/Delay, Tektite and his own Context. His work moves between stripped-down rhythmic pieces, computer-based composition, and denser noise collage, using samplers, synthesizers, computers, ping pong tables and found sounds as source material.

Style and approach

The music under the Sutekh name is known for shifting between precise minimal forms and harsher, more abstract textures. The project is also marked by Horvitz’s ironic presentation, which leaves listeners uncertain about how seriously he intends his public persona.
