Survival is the recording alias of Stephen Kielty, a UK drum and bass producer and DJ from the United Kingdom. He starts his career in production and engineering when drum and bass emerges in 1993/94, initially working as a studio engineer.

Career

Kielty first works with Roy McCabe under the names Akustik Research and Banaczech. Under those aliases, he releases music between 1995 and 2003 on Vinyl Addiction and Partisan Recordings. After a break from drum and bass, he works as studio manager at West Row Studios in London before returning in 2005 as Survival.

Releases and labels

As Survival, he issues a series of well-received releases on Creative Source, Exit Records, DNAudio, Quarantine, Critical and Shogun. He also launches the Audio Tactics label, which serves as a dedicated outlet for his productions. His debut album for dBridge’s Exit Records is completed.

Style and collaborations

His sound is described as deep and organic drum and bass. He collaborates with D-Bridge, Break, Silent Witness, Fierce, Sabre and Alix Perez, reflecting his standing within the genre.
