Sunny Sweeney is a country singer-songwriter from Houston, United States. Born Sunny Michaela Sweeney in 1976, she works in contemporary country and country, and her career also moves into Americana on later releases.

Career

Sweeney releases her debut studio album, Heartbreaker's Hall of Fame, in 2006. None of its three singles chart. Her breakthrough comes with From a Table Away, which becomes her first song to enter the US Hot 100 when it debuts at number 96 in January 2011.

Her 2014 album Provoked reaches the top 20 of the US country albums chart. In 2017, Trophy appears on both the American folk and independent albums charts. Her fifth studio album, Married Alone, is released in 2023.

Style and material

Sweeney’s later work shifts further towards Americana. She also records a cover of “East Texas Pines”, written by Libbi Bosworth, in recognition of her East Texas background.
