Summer Of Hate

Summer Of Hate, also known as S º H, is a neo-psychedelic rock band from Porto, Portugal. The group’s sound is rooted in shoegaze, post-rock, noise pop, British post-punk from the 1980s and 1960s pop, and it uses simple melodies to build a dense wall of sound with a strong emphasis on volume and layered guitar timbres.

Formation and live activity

The band has a live presence since 2016, when it debuts at the Reverence Valada festival. It then performs across Portugal, from north to south.

Line-up

The six-piece line-up consists of Laura Calado on vocals, João Martins, Pedro Adelino and Pedro Ferreira on guitars, Michel Oliveira on bass, and Pedro Lopes on drums.

Recordings

Between 2017 and 2019, Summer Of Hate builds an online catalogue of more than 35 demos. It also releases two singles, Year of Kali in 2017 and Ecstasy in 2018, followed by a live album recorded at Ferro Bar in Porto and available from 2019.

Studio album

The band’s first studio album, Love is Dead! Long Live Love, is released in 2022 and is recorded with financial support from GDA. Its lead single, Não Sei, is issued ahead of the album and is accompanied by a music video.
