Sue Denim

Sue Denim is the pseudonym of Suzanne Powell, also known as Sue and The Unicorn. She is best known as one half of the electro-punk duo Robots in Disguise. She studies at the University of Liverpool, where she meets Delia Gaitskell, who performs as Dee Plume; the two then form Robots in Disguise and record the EP Mix Up Words and Sounds in 2000 on Splinter.

Solo work

Denim’s solo recording debut is credited to Sue and The Unicorn with Pick Me Up, which appears on the compilation Ich Bin Ein Berliner on Araknid. Her debut album as Sue Denim is Sue Denim and the Unicorn, also known as And The Unicorn, released on Superhealthy. It is described as both her first and latest album.

Other collaborations and appearances

During a relationship with Chris Corner, formerly of Sneaker Pimps and later the frontman of IAMX, Denim contributes vocals to his projects. Her voice appears on the Sneaker Pimps tracks M'aidez and Grazes, and on the IAMX tracks You Stick It In Me, Missile, Skin Vision, White Suburb Impressionism, and After Every Party I Die. The pair have tattoos of each other’s surnames on their wrists, reading “Denim” and “Corner”.

Model work

Denim also models for the London jewellery company Tatty Devine. Two necklaces and a set of rings are produced to promote Robots in Disguise and its singles.
