Sublime Eyes

Sublime Eyes are a melodic death metal group from Norway, formed in 2007 by Tom, Remy, Ståle and Steffen. They begin as a Scandinavian death metal band and draw early inspiration from At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity and Dimension Zero.

History

In early 2008, the band records a demo that is distributed locally and also sent to record labels. Ståle leaves after different interests pull him away from the project, having seen the band as a hobby rather than something to which he wants to devote much spare time. Jan joins on bass in 2008, then moves to guitar after Ståle departs. Tom’s brother Roy plays a few concerts with the band, but cannot continue because of his young age and the fact that most performances take place in venues restricted to over-18s. Dan joins on bass in early 2009, giving the group a full line-up for the first time.

The band then enters the studio in spring 2009 to record its first album, Dawn Of The Defiant, which is self-financed and eventually appears in 2010. The album receives some positive reviews, but the band does not promote it much, so it remains largely unnoticed by the wider public.

Line-up changes and later work

In 2011, Sublime Eyes and Steffen part ways because of personal differences. Arvid, formerly the vocalist of Knine, joins as the new singer. He is described as an experienced live performer and a strong frontman. In 2012, the band releases a new demo with the revised line-up, alongside a shift in sound.
