Stuka Squadron
Stuka Squadron is a British heavy metal group associated with vampire-themed metal and NWOTHM. The group records and performs under a military-style persona, and its line-up is presented in that characteristically theatrical language.
Line-up and members
At the time described, the Squadron includes James Duke Fang-Begley on vocals and Graham Pyre on bass. The bio also names Alessandro Explosion on drums, and Gravedigger Cox on guitar. Fang-Begley is identified as formerly of Centurion’s Ghost. The Mastergoth, formerly of The Nefilim, is named as the guitarist on the We Drink Blood EP, though he is described as no longer active and said to return if needed.
Alessandro Explosion is described as having previously played with FgK II Kg 52 Stg 668, associated with Stuka and Fokker DVIII, and as having taken a long break in the Brazilian rain forest while involved in cloning experiments. Gravedigger Cox is described as formerly of FgK I Kesselring Stg 664, Stuka and ME109E, and as having gained some notoriety as the Highgate Vampire after a period of rest in Highgate Cemetery.
Recordings
The group records the We Drink Blood EP in the line-up that includes James Duke Fang-Begley, Graham Pyre and The Mastergoth. The release is presented as a significant item in the band’s history and as the source of the current Squadron configuration described in the bio.
Style and presentation
Stuka Squadron’s imagery centres on blood drinking, war imagery and exaggerated military ranks and honours, presented as part of its heavy metal identity. The group also frames itself as having an open second guitar position, with the stated expectation that anyone who drinks blood and plays guitar may apply.
