Stuart King

Stuart King is a DJ and electronic music producer associated with house and progressive house. He begins DJing in 1991, during the acid house era, and becomes a resident in Jersey in 1993 at Inn on the Park, where he plays alongside Billy Nasty, Eric Powell, Parkes and Wilson, and Laurent Garnier. In 1995 he takes a residency at the Venue nightclub and warms up for artists including John Digweed, Danny Howells, Dave Seaman, Anthony Pappa, Quivver and Boy George.

Sunday Club and early releases

In the mid-1990s, King joins local producer Marc Mitchell to form Sunday Club. The pair sign their first single, Paladien Dawn, to Stress Records. The track receives support from John Digweed, Sasha and Nick Warren, gets radio play from Alfredo on Radio 1 in Ibiza and on Pete Tong’s show, and reaches number 10 in the Cool Cuts chart. Their second single, Healing Dream, gains stronger support, with Sasha and Digweed playing it heavily. Paul van Dyk remixes the track, which sells more than 12,000 copies and reaches number 86 in the national Top 100.

Remixes and collaborations

During this period, King and Sunday Club remix several artists, including Jean Michel Jarre, Sunscreem, Brothers in Rhythm and Furry Phreaks. These remixes appear on labels including Sony, Platipus and D.M.C. Their remix of Visions - Coming Home is played by Sasha in his Radio 1 Essential Mix live from Amnesia in Ibiza.

Work in the 2000s and beyond

In 2003, King produces Beautica with Richard Schiessel of Yum Yum and Bedrock. The track is signed to Spundae in the United States, receives airplay from Pete Tong and reaches number 4 in the North American chart. He also spends two summers in Ibiza as a resident DJ for Slinky and Most Wanted at Privilege, where he plays alongside James Holden, Marco V, Agnelli and Nelson, Fergie, Taul Paul, John OO Flemming and Sonique. He is also resident at Space on Sunday mornings for Baelaric People.

International club work

King later DJs in Brazil, including clubs in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Camboriú, as well as the Warung club. His other club appearances include Privilege in Ibiza, Space in Ibiza, Sankeys in Manchester, Parodogs in Prague, The Cross in London, Paradise Lost in Tenerife, and venues in the UK, Ireland and Bratislava.
