StringerBessant

StringerBessant is a duo made up of Gary Stringer and Jack Bessant, who are both members of Reef. The pair form the act in 2010 and remain active.

Debut album

Their debut album, Yard, is released through Xtra Mile Recordings and is produced by Bruno Ellingham, who has also worked with KT Tunstall, Merz and Delphic. On the record, Stringer and Bessant share and swap vocal and guitar duties across several tracks.

Style

Their music brings together earthy, folk-rooted acoustic guitars, harmonica, lead guitar lines and expressive vocals. The songs are described as stripped back, soulful and melancholy, with blues influence and an emphasis on melody, rhythm and the song itself rather than rock bombast. The project is presented as a contrast to their work in Reef, with a more gentle and dynamic sound.
