Strawhead

Strawhead is a British folk group from Preston, formed in 1974 and active until 2012. The line-up includes Chris Pollington on keyboard, midi horn, accordion and guitar; Gregg Butler on vocals, cornett, cittern, recorder, keyed bugle, ophicleide and euphonium; Malcolm Gibbons on vocals, 12-string guitar and laúd; and Alison Younger as an occasional vocalist.

The group focuses on historical British music from the 16th to the 19th centuries, including songs associated with the English Civil War period through to the Victorian era. It performs this material on a mixture of period instruments and electronic instruments. In 2012, Strawhead announces that it is retiring from live performance.
