Story of the Year

Story of the Year are an alternative rock and post-hardcore group from St. Louis, United States. The band forms in 1995 under the name Big Blue Monkey, a nu metal outfit, and adopts the name Story of the Year in 2002 after a blues group with the same name already exists. The group is active from 2002 to the present.

Line-up

The band consists of vocalist Dan Marsala, lead guitarist Ryan Phillips, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Phil Sneed, bassist Adam Russell and drummer Josh Wills. The wider member listing also includes Greg Haupt and Big Blue Monkey.

Albums and success

Story of the Year make their commercial breakthrough with their major label debut, Page Avenue, which includes the singles “Until The Day I Die” and “Anthem Of Our Dying Day”. Their second album, In the Wake Of Determination, follows in 2005 and does not match the success of the first record.

The band later releases The Black Swan, their third album and first on Epitaph Records, followed by The Constant on Epitaph Records in 2010. Their later discography includes Wolves, Tear Me To Pieces and A.R.S.O.N.

Tours and labels

Story of the Year tour with Linkin Park on the Meteora World Tour in 2004, alongside P.O.D. and Hoobastank. They are associated with Maverick and Epitaph Records.
