Storefront Church

Storefront Church is the solo project of Los Angeles musician Lukas Frank. Frank is born and raised in Los Angeles and begins working as a session musician at 18. Before starting Storefront Church, he also works as a touring drummer for Portugal. The Man and other acts.

Early recordings and label releases

The project’s first release is a self-issued EP recorded with a group of collaborators, including Marshall Vore of Phoebe Bridgers, Bram Inscore of Twin Shadow, Waylon Rector of The Drums and Alaska Reid, and engineer Cassidy Turbin, who also works with Beck and Tashaki Miyaki. Frank draws on influences such as Pink Floyd and Scott Walker.

Storefront Church then attracts the attention of Sargent House, which reissues the EP in 2019. The first song he releases for the label, “The Gift,” is featured in the Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit.

As We Pass

The project’s debut full-length album, As We Pass, arrives in 2021. It is recorded with collaborators including Zachary Cole Smith of DIIV. The album follows the earlier EP and continues Frank’s work under the Storefront Church name.

Activity and collaborations

Frank continues to work across several projects. He tours with DIIV in Europe, scores a documentary film, writes the theme song for the AMC series Monsieur Spade, records an EP for a side project with Kerry McCoy of Deafheaven, and produces the next solo record by GZA of Wu-Tang Clan.
