Stomper 98

Stomper 98 are a German-language Oi! and street punk group from Göttingen, Germany. The band forms in 1998 and remains active, with a line-up built around founding members Holgi Stomper on saxophone and Sebi x Stomper on vocals, both of whom stay in the group.

Recordings and labels

The group’s first release is a self-titled 7-inch on Blind Beggar Records. Its first full-length album, Stomping Harmonists, appears on DSS Records. While with DSS Records, the band issues further albums, a cover album, and several split singles. After DSS Records closes, Stomper 98 move to Sunny Bastards, where they release the compilation ...4 the Die Hards and a DVD for their tenth anniversary. In 2012, they sign to Crazy United Records and release ...bis hierher!. They later join Contra Records and release Althergebracht and, later, Stomper 98.

Line-up changes and collaborators

In 2005, Phil Templar, also known as Phil Regaud and a member of the New York punk and Oi! band The Templars, joins as a permanent member. Lars Frederiksen, known for work with Rancid and The Old Firm Casuals, joins as a permanent member in 2017 and appears on Althergebracht. In 2020, bassist Lars Resort leaves for health reasons and is replaced by Sille Riot, while Stefan joins as drummer.

The band’s studio albums include Stomping Harmonists (1999), Jetzt erst recht (2003), Für die Ewigkeit (2007), Tage deiner Jugend (2008), ...bis hierher! (2012), Althergebracht (2018) and Stomper 98 (2023). Althergebracht is their first album to reach the German Albums Chart, where it peaks at number 69.
