Stick Figure

Stick Figure is a reggae and dub group from Duxbury, United States, active since 2006. The project is led by Scott Woodruff, who writes, records and produces the music.

Formation and early years

Woodruff lives in Duxbury, Massachusetts until 2009, when Stick Figure exists as a solo project. After travelling in New Zealand and Bali, he moves to San Diego in 2011 and begins assembling a full live band. The group later includes Kevin Bong on keys, alongside other live members.

Style and recording approach

The music combines upbeat roots reggae with dub. Stick Figure’s tracks are built by recording each instrument separately and layering the parts into the finished arrangement.

Albums and collaborations

The fifth Stick Figure album, Burial Ground, is released in 2012 and reaches number one on the iTunes and Billboard reggae charts. It includes the songs “Breathe” and “Weight Of Sound” featuring TJ O’Neill. The band tours the United States with reggae acts including Rebelution, The Green, Passafire, Tribal Seeds and The Expendables.

The sixth album, Set In Stone, appears in 2015 and also reaches number one on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. It includes “Smokin’ Love” featuring Collie Buddz, and also features Eric Rachmany and Slightly Stoopid.

The group’s members are Scott Woodruff, Kevin Bong, John Gray, Kevin Offitzer and Tommy Suliman.
