Steven Battelle is a musician from Derby, England, best known as the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter of LostAlone. His work is associated with emo and sits within the wider rock and alternative scene.

Background

Before LostAlone, Battelle is part of the bands Stumble and Intentions of an Asteroid. He develops a distinctive stage style and performance aesthetic, which includes alternative slide guitar techniques, doing push-ups on stage during songs, handing out custard creams, and a guitar-solo move that involves flipping and catching the guitar with his shoe.

Style and instruments

His performances also feature what he calls his “penetrator”, a two-neck guitar designed so he can play a chord and a riff at the same time. His earlier work combines fast, heavy riffs with slower, melodic sections and strong vocal harmonies.
