Steve Noble is a drummer and a key figure on the UK improvisation scene. He is known for playing with a wide range of musicians, including Derek Bailey, Wadada Leo Smith, Peter Brötzmann and Keiji Haino. His playing combines force and precision, and he works across the meeting point of jazz and rock drumming, often drawing the two together.

Noble is a former member of the post-punk group Rip, Rig and Panic and the noise/drone band Aethenor. He also collaborates with Stephen O’Malley of Sunn O))) and is associated with an approach that pushes at the edges of both improvised music and heavier forms.
