Steve Ignorant is an English punk singer and artist from Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom, born in 1957. He is best known as a co-founder of Crass, the anarchist punk rock band he forms with Penny Rimbaud in 1977.

Career

Ignorant works across punk and rock, and is associated with Crass, Conflict, Schwartzeneggar, Stratford Mercenaries, Current 93 and Slice of Life. He also performs as a solo artist.

With Current 93, he appears under the name Stephen Intelligent. He also works with Schwartzeneggar and the Stratford Mercenaries, and the name of Schwartzeneggar appears in some sources as Schwartzeneggar (sic).

Other work

Outside music, Ignorant is a sculptor. He also works as a traditional Punch and Judy performer under the name Professor Ignorant. He develops an interest in the history of traditional east London music hall performance.

Later activity

Ignorant announces a tour called The Last Supper, centred on performances of Crass songs from the period 1977 to 1982.
