Stefano Noferini

Stefano Noferini is an Italian DJ, producer and art director from Firenze, Italy. Born in 1961, he begins his career in 1980 and becomes one of the main figures in the development of Florence’s nightlife, helping the city emerge as a centre for Italian and international club music. He is identified with house, tech house and related electronic styles, including funky house and electro house.

DJ career

In the early 1990s, Noferini is resident DJ at some of the key house venues in Italy, including Titilla, the privé room at Cocoricò in Riccione, and Fitzcarraldo in Arezzo. He later appears regularly in major clubs across Italy and Europe, including Peter Pan and Echoes in Emilia-Romagna, Maffia and Cenerentola in Reggio Emilia, Alter Ego in Verona, Kinki in Bologna, Area City in Venice, Musikò and Aida in Jesolo, Frau in Viareggio, Club UK in London, BCM in Palma de Mallorca, Ambassada Gavioli in Slovenia, Colossos in Lloret de Mar, The Egg in London, and Space in Mykonos. He also plays at Ibiza venues such as Pacha, Amnesia, El Divino and Space.

Events and club culture

Noferini appears at large-scale dance events such as Exogroove, Syncopate, Promise Land, Tribal Gathering, Energy, May Day, Love Parade and Eurofestival in Holland. He also plays at events connected with fashion and brand promotion, including parties for Prada and Diesel and a presentation tour for Smart, part of the Mercedes group. In 1988 he is one of the promoters of “Italian Club Culture”, the only official Italian track to join Love Parade in Berlin.

Production work and labels

Alongside DJ work, Noferini starts as a producer and art director through his company Sound4Group. The company includes the labels Loud Bit, No Label and Deeperfect, which release house, electronic, electro and tribal tracks. He is also associated with club-oriented compilations and radio programming through the Club Edition project, launched in 2007 as both a compilation series and a touring radio show broadcast by stations in countries including Australia, the UK, Spain, the Canary Islands, Belgium, Italy, the Czech Republic, Germany, France and Greece.

Albums, programmes and releases

As a solo artist, Noferini releases two albums, From Here to the Moon and Van. Van also gives its name to radio and television programmes on Radio Italia Network, Crazy Dance and Odeon TV, and is used to promote clubbing and alternative music. He also releases singles and collaborative tracks under his own name and with other artists, including Noferini & Andy f, Noferini & Jack in the City, and Noferini.

Remixes and collaborations

Noferini remixes a number of house and dance tracks, including “To Be in Love” by MAW feat. India, “My Good Is Real” by Kaya, “Fallin” by Robbie Rivera, “That’s The Way Love Goes” by X-Factor 7 feat. Amber Jones, “The Shaft” by Isaac Eyes, “Love Is All We Need” by Love Inc., “C’mon C’mon” by Bigfellas, “Latin Session (Asì Asì)” by Mix Master, “My Destiny” by Delinquent feat. KCAT, and “Don’t Stop” by Miguel Picasso. His release “Get Movin’” appears internationally and is included on Warner compilations. He also records “Get On Down”, “Body Shine”, “C’Mon” and “Sex”.

Club Edition and later projects

In 2007, Noferini begins Club Edition, a new project built around his selected compilation series and a radio show carried by more than 15 stations worldwide. That project also expands into a one-night and touring format. In June 2007 he releases a single with Kortezman featuring Jocelyn Brown; the package includes 13 tracks and remixes by 7th Heaven, Jesse Garcia, Phunkk Mob, Pornocult and Hernandez vs Tyo. Before its official release, the track is played on Roger Sanchez’s Release Yourself playlist and circulates during the Winter Music Conference in Miami.
