State Of Mind

State Of Mind is a drum and bass group from Auckland, New Zealand, made up of Stu Maxwell and Patrick Hawkins. Active since 2005, the duo builds a large part of its reputation on prolific production and releases across a wide range of drum and bass labels, including CIA Recordings, Subtitles Records, Shogun Audio, Viper Recordings, 31 Records, Uprising, Bad Company, BSE & Obsessions, Project 51, Samurai and Non-Vogue.

Releases and labels

The pair release material through a broad label network and also set up SOM Music in 2009. The label develops into a niche imprint of its own and issues music by artists including Nymfo, Black Sun Empire, Neonlight, Jade, Telekinesis, Mindscape, Dose, Borderline, Gridlok and Cern.

Broadcast and collaborations

State Of Mind formerly host the “Next Level” drum and bass show on 95BFM, which later relaunches as a bi-monthly podcast. The group also collaborates with Ruth Waters.
