Stan Graham is a British folk singer and songwriter. He begins performing after retiring from the Army, when he joins York’s Black Swan Folk Club as a resident singer.
His songs include Whitby Harbour, Alice, Closing Time, Sarajevo and The Olive and The Vine. These are covered by artists including George Hamilton IV, Martyn Wyndham-Read, Vin Garbutt, Bill Whaley and Dave Fletcher. The Olive and The Vine is voted in 2010 as one of the Folk Songs of the Decade by an international panel of folk radio presenters.
Graham tours with Vin Garbutt in Australia, Malaysia and Singapore in 2010. He appears at major festivals and at folk clubs across the UK, and shares stages with Geordie Lindisfarne, George Hamilton IV, Boo Hewerdine, Eddi Reader, Martyn Carthy, The McCalman’s, Emily Smith and Blazing Fiddles.
He is a past winner of the Keith Marsden Songwriting Competition and a finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Search For A Song competition. He also hosts folk music slots on local radio stations including BBC Radio York.
