Stamina MC is a drum and bass and jungle MC and vocalist from the United Kingdom. He works under the stage name Stamina MC and performs in both rapping and vocal styles.

Background

Stamina MC is the stage name of Linden Michael Tarquin Rippington Johnson Spitfire Reeves Smythe. He begins performing in 1994 and is based in London and the south east of the United Kingdom. His work also spans hip hop, down-tempo and grime.

Collaborations and performances

In 2000 he meets DJ Marky, DJ Patife and XRS Land, and he becomes closely associated with DJ Marky’s performances. He also collaborates with Makoto and London Elektricity. Stamina MC appears alongside DJ Marky in many of his sets and also features on BBC 1Xtra with DJs including DJ Friction, High Contrast, DJ Marky and DJ Patife.

He plays in a wide range of places including Tallinn, Budapest, Barcelona, São Paulo and Cardiff. In 2002 he hosts an 11,000-capacity arena for 11 hours, which helps establish him in Brazil. He also performs for 1 million people at the Peace Parade.

Notable recordings

He is best known for vocals on the singles “Barcelona” by D. Kay and Epsilon and “LK” by DJ Marky and XRS Land, both from 2003. He also appears on D. Kay’s 2007 album Individual Soul on the track “All That You Are”. Another later credit places him as vocals on DJ Fresh’s “Hypercaine” with Koko.
